Professional Detail vs Car Wash

Updated: Jul 4

Welcome! The crew at Mountain Man Mobile Detail has over 12 years of experience, and we want to share our knowledge with you! Last month marked four years for our business here in Asheville, NC, and I’ve decided to start these blogs for our local customers and for those around the world who just want to learn more about properly taking care of your vehicle.

This week's topic is Professional Detail vs Car Wash. Do you know the difference? Which do you choose? Unsure? Read on and make the decision for yourself! There are pros and cons to both options, but keep in mind when picking between the two; your vehicle is an expensive investment, who do you want to trust it with?

With a professional detail by a business such as our own, you are choosing a company that uses all pro equipment and chemicals. This means no damage to your vehicle and no smelly cleaners that cause allergies. We use a gravity fed pressure washer that won’t damage the paint, and quality chemicals that are hard on the stains but easy on your car. A pro detail has much more to offer, such as pet hair removal, stain removal, and everything in between. Most importantly, you are trusting your vehicle with those who truly care!

A drive thru car wash can be harsh on your vehicle. The automatic brushes often pick up debris from the previous cars, which can scratch and damage the exterior paint. The blowers don’t always dry the vehicle entirely, leaving water spots behind that can also permanently damage the exterior of your car. Drive thru car washes typically don’t offer full interior details. You’ll most likely get a light vacuum, some dusting, and maybe a quick surface wipe down, all from someone with little experience.

The biggest perk to a professional detail is that if you’re lucky enough, you might even be able to find a mobile company that comes right to you! If you’re in the WNC area, visit our website for a quote today. If you’re not local to this area, I urge you to do some research on your local small detail businesses. You deserve a detailer who designs the carpets; don't settle for less!

I do understand that the biggest difference between the two is price. A car wash service is significantly lower priced than a professional detail. However, ‘you get what you pay for’ couldn’t be more true in this sense. When choosing a company, make sure they are licensed and insured, read reviews, and make the decision of who you want in, around, and holding the keys to your investment.
